Inspired by the pastoral calm of Toile de Jouy, this piece depicts figures quietly working the land in scenes that appear peaceful and almost timeless. Yet, beneath this stillness lies a deeper tension. For me, life moves because it ends. The possibility that any day could be the last is what pushes us to labor, care, and support one another. On the back, a skull slowly sinking into water reminds us that death is always present, inevitable, and patient. And yet, it is like water itself.
