Careful Not To Knock Anything Over

These painted hoodies mark a more illustrative turn in my practice, shaped in part by the visual language of the children’s storybook illustrations I grew up with. Each work centers the hand as a narrative device. For example, an elongated arm stretches along the sleeve to light a candle at a quiet table. In another piece, two hands emerge from the hoodie’s pockets to knit a scarf that is already wrapped around the wearer’s neck. A third design features a large hand placing a chair inside a small house, as if arranging a dollhouse. There is a sense of play throughout the collection, where familiar gestures are slightly distorted and everyday actions become quietly surreal.
