My work focuses on transforming a simple hoodie into a narrative canvas. By using detailed hand embroidery on thick cotton, I create meaningful, long-lasting pieces that stand in contrast to the disposable nature of fast fashion.
I am inspired by the ocean’s magical and ever-changing nature specifically how light moves through water to create unusual shapes and textures. In this piece, I have envisioned a dreamy underwater world where mermaids, wheels, stars, and even bones coexist. Each stitch is carefully placed; I use thread as if it were paint to add texture and depth, while the blue fabric serves as the cohesive background that brings the elements together.
To me, this hoodie is more than just clothing it is like wearing a dream. It explores the contrast between the weight of the heavy fabric and the light, flowing essence of the sea life depicted upon it.
